10 Rising Furniture Design Trends in 2022
Our immediate environments are proven to affect our moods and overall health. Is it any surprise then that the unsettling pandemic era has brought forward home furniture design trends that emphasise making us feel physically comfortable and emotionally at ease?
With so much time spent confined indoors the past few years, we are all looking to expand our bond with the great outdoors and make the line between inside and outside more seamless.
From earthy, nature-inspired themes to the return of soft and curvy, it’s clear that people are looking for spaces that feel warm, restorative and reassuring. Cozy is for sure the name of the game this year!
Here are 10 design trends that will bring calm and comfort to your interior spaces:
Florals - Floral wallpaper, floral cushions and floral sofa covers are back and make for beautiful statement pieces in a room.
Curvy furniture - Curves and rounded forms inherently feel softer and more calming than sharp angles and straight lines. Not only is curved furniture eye candy, it can offer more space within a room as well.
Velvet - Craving a regal look? Opt for velvet upholstered furniture and soft furnishings. Velvet is plush, aesthetically pleasing and available in multiple colours.
Shades of brown - Speaking of colours,‘70s babies will be excited to hear that chocolate brown is back! Colours of the earth (tans, taupes and nudes) warm up a space. Walnut timber furniture is also on trend.
Vibrant colours - Bold colours and patterns—especially purples, oranges and greens—are also on trend this year.
Plants galore - Blend the outside world with the inside by adding some greenery. Plants provide a calming space, especially when accompanied with blue and green elements.
Statement lights - Homeowners are incorporating large pendants for feature lighting and smart lights into their homes. Large pendant lighting is generally placed over kitchen counters and entrance foyers for visual impact.
Sustainably sourced furniture - Sustainable and consciously made furniture and accessories are becoming increasingly popular as people are becoming cognizant of their environmental impact and where their products are sourced from.
Oversized feature lamps - Big is beautiful! Create a focal point in a room using large table lamps.
Indoor-outdoor rooms - As a result of the pandemic, many people remained in their homes for long periods of time and outdoor zones became like second living rooms—a way to escape without leaving your property. Melding the indoor and outdoor won’t be out of style any time soon!
